NA body directs ECP to ensure validity degrees of candidate

ISLAMABAD—Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs recommended that
the Election Commission of Pakistan should ensure the validity of the
degree of candidates, contesting for the Election of member of National
Assembly and determine the equivalence of the certificate issue by the
religious Madrassas with the Graduation Degrees.
This was decided in the in the meeting of Standing Committee on
Parliamentary Affairs which held here on Thursday. MNA Riaz Fatyana,
chaired the meeting.
The committee directed the secretary election commission that the name’s
of the dead persons should be deleted from the voter’s lists. The
Committee recommended that at the time of casting vote; the voter’s is
supposed to produce to National Identity Card to presiding Officers for
identification.
The committee recommended that the Election Commission should ensure to
deflate rigging during the up coming General Election 2007. The
Committee recommended that after the conclusion of polling, the
Presiding Officer should ensure the result of the Election, mentioning
the canceled votes on the voter forms under his signature and stamp and
should hand over to the polling agents with duly receipt.
Now the Standing Committee recommended that Assistant returning officers
along with law enforcement agency personals may collect result and other
relevant material from the presiding officers at the polling stations in
front of polling agents so that no body could be able to manipulate
results.
The committee recommended that the Government should provide generators
at the polling stations as alternative arrangements in case of failure
of electricity.
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Sher Afgan Niazi, Bushra
Rehman, MNA, Hamid Nasir Chattha, MNA, Nunir Kihan Orakzai, MNA, Pir
Muhammad Aslam Bodla, MNA, Nawab Nirza Advocate, MNA, Nafisa Munawar
Raja, MNA and Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, MNA also attended the meeting. |
