BB insists foreign probe in blasts
Bureau Report

KARACHI—The chairperson of PPP-P Benazir Bhutto has scoffed at government for its reluctance to ask in foreign experts to investigate the recent Karachi/Karsaz blasts, when it has no compunctions in ordering airplanes and ships from abroad.
Addressing a press conference in Bilawal House, yesterday, she expressed her surprise that despite murderous attacks on President Musharraf and PM, Shaukat Aziz, Ejaz-Ul-Haq and Chaudhry Shujaat were still safe. She was also chagrined at the fact that despite a long lapse of time, the probes about nature of Oct 18 blasts have yet to be ascertained, which speaks volumes about ineptness and lack of expertise of local officials. While expressing her utter distrust of the blasts she demanded immediate details about the possibility of involvement by Al-Qaeeda and Taliban, and their funding sources. She said that when her brother was murdered during her very tenure, a lot of fingers were raised, but no probes were ever completed about the Nishtar Park blasts and the CJ controversy.
She also showed her reservations on security arrangements provided by Sindh government. “I am taking personal security measurements as two officials vehicles delegated for my security are not enough”, she told. “Government conveyed to me to keep my visits confidential, but I have strong believe in Allah and I am going to actualize my announced trip to Larkana on the desires of my supporters”, she added. She contended that chief objective of PPP is to serve the countrymen. “During dictators’ rule, Pakistan faced numerous challenges ranging from security to economy,” she opined.
She opined that majority of Madaris, , are doing a constructive job for Pakistan, however there are some seminaries which are providing platform to extremist elements, and emphasized the eradication of terrorism and extremism is very crucial to drive the country towards prosperity and progress. “This task can only be achieved through strengthening the power of masses as did by Quaid-e-Azam and Zulfiqar Bhutto”, she stressed.
Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has called upon the opposition parties to stand together and struggle till real democracy and the Constitution is restored. He was addressing lawyers of Karachi Bar Association here on Thursday. He expressed his reservations over the National Reconciliation Ordinance.
Opposition would appreciate if PPPP changes its policy and decides to step back from supporting present regime. He paid tributes to the legal fraternity for their successful movement for rule of law, independence of judiciary and the supremacy of the constitution.
