Pak pair in doubles semi-final of international ranking tennis

ISLAMABAD—Pakistani duo of Asim Shafiq and Shehzad Khan alongwith three foreign pairs qualified for the semi-finals of men’s doubles event of Askari Bank Pakistan Futures International Ranking Tennis Tournament at PTF Complex clay courts on Wednesday
The foreign pairs to make it to the last-4 stage were Bo-Sung Kim/Hyun-Soo Lim (Korea), Victor Bogdan Leonte (Romania)/Adam Vejmelka (Czechoslovakia) and Jeong-Han Seo (Korea) and Ashwin Vijayragavan (India).
Aqeel Khan and Sri Lankan Harsha Godamanna put up a good fight before losing to No.1 seed Leonte and Vejmelka in the final set match Tie( Superset 10-4).
In last quarter- final, No.2 seed gave the walkover to Seo (KOR)/Vijayragavan (IND).
Shahzad khan and Asim Shafiq of Pakistan advanced to the semi finals by eliminating Alexander Gigtshvili/Vladimir Gigitashvili (RUS) in straights set by playing powerful service/volley game at the net.
They will meet SEO-Jeong Han/Ashwin Vijayragavan of India in the semi final at 3.00 P.M. Thursday.
Aqeel khan of Pakistan will face Bo-Sung Kim( KOR) in the Men’s Singles Quarter-final at 11.00 A.M Thursday . The entire singles quarter finals will start at 11.00 A.M. while the men’s Doubles Semi-Finals will start at 3.00 P.M. Thursday.
