NA body stresses to control production of low quality drugs

ISLAMABAD—National Assembly Standing Committee on Health on Wednesday emphasized the need to control production of low quality drugs, smuggling of drugs to other countries and control on banned drugs.
The committee was briefed about the overall situation and performance of the pharmaceutical companies functioning in the country.
The meeting was informed that there is persistent growth and development of pharma industries since 1999 to 2007, as there are 420 pharmaceutical units currently working, out of which 28 are of multinational companies.
The Ministry of Health briefed about the process of registration and guidelines for getting license in the establishment of pharmaceutical company.
The meeting chaired by Dr. Hajra Tariq Aziz, stressed the need to improvenetwork facilities, growing market, protection of investment and establishment of infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Donya Aziz, Miss Onaza, Dr. Junaid Mumtaz Joya, Dr. Noor Jehan Panezai, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Mrs. Yasmeen Rehman, Nawab Mirza Advocate, Maulana Khalil Ahmad, Khuram Manwar Manj, Mrs. Shamshad Sattar Bachani, Mrs. Belim Hasnain and Mrs. Rahila Yahya Manwar.
