Qatar Charity launches 5-year humanitarian plan for Pakistan

Islamabad—Federal Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education Mrs.
Zobaida Jalal has said that there are more than 100,000 national and
international NGOs working in Pakistan but still areas like sanitation
and garbage dumping awaits practical attention of such organizations.
She was addressing the launching ceremony of Five-year humanitarian plan
of Qatar Charity, a Doha based international humanitarian organization.
Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Islamabad Mr. Hamad Ali Al Hinzab,
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mr. Awad Al-Aseeri, Director
General of Qatar Charity Mr. Abdullah Hussain Al-Nema, Country Director
Qatar Charity Mr. Muhammad Ouahi and a number of ambassadors, diplomats
and representatives of national and international NGOs were also present
on the occasion.
Talking about the role of NGOs in the social sector of Pakistan, Mrs,
Zobaida Jalal said that inspite of a large number of national and
international NGOs in health, education and women development, there are
many areas that are awaiting the attention of NGOs. She added that her
ministry is developing a data base of all the NGOs working in Pakistan
to facilitate coordination for meaningful development among the
non-governmental organizations. About Qatar Charity's contribution in
Pakistan, the minister said that the role of Qatar Charity in various
sectors especially in the relief operation in the October 8, 2005
earthquake is a highly admirable part of the history of friendship
between Pakistan and Qatar and will be recorded in the history with
golden words.
The Ambassador of Qatar Mr. Hamad Ali Al-Hinzab appreciated Qatar
Charity's activities in Pakistan and said that it indicates the deep
rooted brotherhood and friendship between the governments and people of
the two countries. Director General Qatar Charity Abdullah Hussain Al-Nema
on this occasion talked about the five-years plan and said that it will
help education, sustainable income generation, children and widows in
Azad Kashmir, NWFP and Balochistan.
He added that a complex was inaugurated in Punjab Tuesday that will
consist of a free hospital, free schooling for orphans, skill
development centre for widows, sports facilities and many more.
