PNCA symbol of govt resolve to place arts in mainstream of polity: Tariq

ISLAMABAD—Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Tariq Azeem
said on Tuesday Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) is the symbol
of the government’s resolve to place arts in the mainstream of polity.
This he said during a visit to the PNCA.Director General PNCA Naeem
Tahir and Executive Director Jamal Shah briefed him about various works
being displayed in various galleries of the council.He said that artists
can play a vital role in projecting Pakistan’s soft image in the
world.He said “it is vital to project a soft, peaceful and tolerant
image of Pakistan, to counter the negative propaganda.
The DG PNCA informed the minister that works of the present and past
artistes have been put on display, with a section devoted to portraits,
sketches and sculptures of national heroes as “visual history” for the
students.
He said the Culture Ministry has consistently worked to mobilize culture
in the service of country’s future vision of enlightened moderation
under the guidance of President Pervez Musharraf. |
