Hu Jintao's re-election a good omen for regional, global peace, China's uplift,

ISLAMABAD—President and Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Mail and Chairman of Pak-China Media Friendship Association Mr. Makhdoom Babar has said that the re-election of Chinese President Mr. Hu Jintao as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China at the end of the 17th National Congress of CPC is a very good omen for regional and global peace ad peaceful development of China and will enhance the life of the common man in the world's largest populated country.
Expressing his views in an exclusive interview with China Radio International (CRI), here yesterday, Mr. Makhdoom said that during President Hu Jinato's last five- year tenure, China witnessed an amazing peaceful development and the social and economic standards of the people of China had developed dramatically. At the same time, Mr Makhdoom said, China, during these five years, maintained a highly successful foreign policy and played an active and important role in resolving its own matters with regional neighbours as well as with United States and European Union and at the same time China emerged as a new leader of the developing world and champion of South-South cooperation..
To a question, he said that he was very much impressed by the comprehensive report, presented by President Hu Jintao during the 17th National Congress of the CPC as in his report, Hu mentioned democracy at more than 60 places, he expressed to continue zero tolerance for corruption, he vowed to build a harmonious world, he appealed for a peace agreement with Taiwan, he emphasized on enhancing soft power of Chinese culture, he promised expansion of people's democracy. He pledged promotion of more and more non-communists to the key positions, he forwarded and innovations based economic agenda and he vowed to carry on with reforms and opening up of China.
Mr. Makhdoom further said that the last five years' track record of President Hu Jintao and his colleagues at the Political Bureau of the CPC, crystal clearly indicates that he and his team was sincerely making all out efforts to promote peace and harmony in the region and across the globe and on the domestic front, they were all out to develop the living standards of the people of China and introduce a landmark infrastructure development and exploring new energy resources. Makhdoom further said that he was very much impressed to observe that during last five year's Chinese government made tremendous efforts to promote the life standards of the common man. " and I must tell you that Chinese government is not focusing only on big cities like Beijing or Shanghai but its sincere efforts in this regard are reaching far off and remote villages too. I visited a small village named Fangxian in Southern China some 2 years back and I was very much impressed by the development and infrastructure there but now it is even more developed, just within 2 years' time, the whole outline of that village stands completely changed and far more developed. To another question, Mr. Makhdoom said that the Chinese media organizations have also made a great development during the past four to five years. They have acquired new high-tech equipments and state-of-the-art technology, both in the print and electronic media and have attained more professionalism, responding promptly to the contemporary challenges.
