Over 1559 patients treated Al-Shifa Trust Eye hospital

Rawalpindi—Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital Rawalpindi treated more than 1559 eye patients in a three day free Eye Camp under its community outreach program in AJK Kashmir, which ended on Monday 23 2007.
The free eye camp was organized by Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital Rawalpindi and was conducted at Arja of district Bagh and Pachiot, Hajeera of District Rawlakot
A team of specialist doctors comprising of Dr Kashif and Dr Rizwan along with head of the team, Lt. Col. (Retrd) Khalid Mahmood Bhutti, health educationist, Mr. Aslam Shah, and camp supervisor Mr. Mohamed Aslam with 10 others Al-Shifa Trust paramedics team had setup the camp
A total number of 1559 patients were screened at the eye camp while medicines, lenses and glasses were provided to the needy free of cost. Out of these patients, 250 patients were found with serious cases and were referred to Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital Rawalpindi.
These patients have been brought to the Al-Shifa Trust Hospital Rawalpindi to undergo surgeries Said Lt. Col. (Retrd) Khalid Mahmood Bhutti, who is the Director of the Al-Shifa Trust Center for community ophthalmology (ACCO) department.
Those in need of eye care were brought to the camp from their doorsteps, a move to ensure that everyone participated in it. Said Mr. Mahmood Aslam
The turnout was much higher then expected said the camp supervisor Mr. Mohammed Aslam. A large number of patients, both old and young, visited the camp.
According Dr, Rizwan of Al-Shifa Trust, most of the people screened were found with cataract and glaucoma cases. Besides, there were also some patients who were complaining of refractive power, watering of the eyes squint and some were also found with night blindness. He further said that Glasses were provided for those who have refractive errors. According to Lt. Col. (Retrd) Khalid Mahmood Bhutti, the Camp was aimed at providing the best eye care facilities for the needy people at their door stop.—Online
