APDM failed
to achieve goals, says Fazal
Bureau Report
PESHAWAR—Criticizing the inability of APDM to achieve its goals in the
recent political scenario of the country, President of
Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Fazalur Rehman has said that the
decision about alliance of his party with APDM would be taken in the
next meeting of the Supreme Council of JUI to be held on Wednesday and
Thursday.
Talking to newsmen after attending the meeting of the Supreme Council of
JUI that met here on Sunday, he criticized that APDM failed to achieve
its goal despite tendering resignations from the assemblies. He said
that JUI committed no mistake in dissolution of NWFP government.
Replying a question, Maulana Fazalur Rehman said that efforts would be
made for keeping Mutahidda Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) united. JUI Chief
strongly condemned terrorist attack on PPP rally in Karachi and asked
the government to conduct through investigations in this regard. Central
Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and Secretary General of MMA, Maulana
Fazlur Rehman has said that supreme council of JUI will hold a meeting
on Oct 24 and 25, next wherein final decision on party’s alliance with
All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) will be taken. He said this while
talking with media persons after addressing a meeting of JUI(F) Peshawar
on Sunday.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said JUI rendered great sacrifices for APDM
including resignations from national and provincial assemblies and
dissolution of NWFP government, but still party is facing criticism from
component parties of the alliance. He said APDM leadership is raising
questions as why NWFP government was not dissolved on September 29, but
we have not asked from any one that why JUI leadership was not consulted
while nominating Justice Retd Waji-ud-Din as candidate for presidential
elections.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said APDM fails to achieve its goals despite
tendering resignations from parliament. He maintained that JUI committed
no mistake in dissolution of NWFP government and in fact the mistake is
committed by APDM leadership. He added that no proper strategy was
chalked out for Presidential elections held on Oct 6, last.
In response to a question, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that all efforts
would be made for keeping MMA united. However, he hastened to add, he
would also register his reservations against leaders of component
parties of the religious alliance in its upcoming Supreme Council
meeting. He said the scheduled meeting of supreme council of MMA was
delayed due to indisposition of its president Qazi Hussain Ahmad.

considering calling back its forces from Afghanistan. He said American
Ambassador to Pakistan had told him in a recent meeting that America is
mulling withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan.

peace in Afghanistan and FATA cannot be restored unless international
forces from Afghanistan are called back.
