Federal Govt pledges support to Sindh in treating blast victims

ISLAMABAD—Federal Government has announced all out support to the
Government of Sindh by the Federal Health Ministry in treating victims
of 18th October carnage in Karachi.
A hospital run by the Federal Health Ministry has taken in 169 blast
victims including the seriously injured in this connection. A spokesman
of the Ministry of Health informed in a statement released Sunday
evening.
The seriously and slightly injured were brought in large numbers to the
Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre, Karachi, a facility run by the
Federal Health Ministry.
Out of these surgeries were performed on 35 patients which were
successful. 67 patients are admitted at the hospital as of today added
the spokesman 53 dead bodies were also brought to hospital.
Former Prime Minister and PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto also visited
the JPMC on Sunday to enquire after the health of the injured.
She expressed gratitude and appreciation on behalf of herself and her
party for the quality of care and treatment being provided to the blast
victims by the hospital administration. A special team of doctors led by
the Inspector General Hospitals had been dispatched from Islamabad on
Friday to provide every possible support to the Sindh Government.
Adequate supplies of essential life saving medicines are available at
the JPMC and the Federal Government is monitoring the situation closely
with regard to other hospitals so that any emergency situation or
shortage in supplies can be dealt with immediately remarked the
spokesman. |
