ISLAMABAD—The Sub-Committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has directed all concerned to facilitate the law abiding and efficient housing societies working in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) with a view to enabling their members acquire plots at reasonable rates.
The sub-committee met here Friday under the Chairpersonship of Senator Mrs. Gulshan Saeed, says a press release.
The committee directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA), ICT and other concerned to help legal societies to completing the procedural formalities expeditiously and even to relax the relevant rules where necessary, so that the people especially those belonging to middle and lower income groups may have shelter of their own.
It especially called for improving the inter-departmental coordination and doing away with the red tape to achieve the desired objective. It was observed that systems and procedures need to be simplified and streamlined to help the general public, which often has to run from pillar to post in its bid to fulfill the formalities.
It was also observed that the stakeholders must be consulted while framing the relevant rules and the obsolete ones must be amended to keep pace with times. The members reviewed matters pertaining to the Multi- Professional Cooperative Housing Society and Gulshan-e-Rehman Housing Society.
The Sub-Committee granted 20 days time to the Multi- Professional Housing Society to submit the amended engineering designs with CDA for issuance of NOC for F-17 and B-17 sectors being developed by it. The meeting reiterated to play its due role in overcoming the shortage of housing in the country and to provide the people belonging to the fixed income groups plots at reasonable rates.
Earlier, the members of the Sub-Committee expressed their heartfelt condolences to Senator Abdul Ghafar Qureshi, Convenor of the Committee, who lost a few relatives in last night's bomb blast in Karachi and prayed for their eternal salvation.
