Jadoon, Shamsul Mulk discuss pace of oil, gas exploration

ISLAMABAD—Acting Chief Minister of NWFP, Shamsul Mulk called on Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon here on Thursday and discussed pace of oil and gas development activities in the province.
During the meeting, the Minister briefed the Chief Minister about the ongoing oil and gas exploration activities in Tall Block being carried out by local and foreign companies and provision ofgas supply to less developed and remote areas of the province on priority basis.
He want on to say that oil and gas explorations and gasprojects have geared up the socio-economic development activities in the NWFP and opened unprecedented employment opportunities forthe youth in the history of the country. The Minister said that gas revenue of NWFP from oil and gasexploration activities have surpassed its hydel revenue adding that “Oil and gas exploration activities would take momentum in the daysahead and would usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in the provincial”. Acting Chief Minister appreciated the steps being taken by theMinistry of Petroleum to boost oil and gas exploration activities in NWFP and provision of gas facility to the remote and backwardares on priority basis. He said that oil and gas projects would bring rapid socio- economic development in the province and help generate employment opportunities. Secretary Petroleum, Farrukh Qayyum was also present duringthe meeting.
