Efforts on to set up technical,
vocational institutions

ISLAMABAD—In order to boost technical and vocational education and
training (TVET), the government has decided to set up educational
institutions to provide latest and skill-oriented educational facilities
to the youth.
To ensure geographical coverage, National Vocational and Technical
Education Commission (NAVTEC) will establish around 48 institutions in
the first phase where no technical education institution exists in the
country, an official told APP here Wednesday.
“Through this intervention, an additional pool of 3,200 people will be
trained by the end of this year”, he added.
“NAVTEC is pursuing this programme on the directive of the President and
under the Prime Minister’s special initiative”, Official said.The
Commission, in collaboration with Balochistan Institute of
TechnicalEducation (BITE), has already launched model skills training
programme in areas where there is skills shortage as well as special
courses for women. All courses are being offered free of charge and
course participants will be provided monthly stipend.
Besides, the Ministry of Labour and Manpower, in collaboration with
China,has decided to set up more vocational and technical institutes in
the country.
In this regard, both sides have constituted a Joint Working Group to
promote the effectiveness of vocational training countrywide, he added.
The working group would prepare the courses to design and implementation
of National Policy and Plan on Vocational Training, he added.
The group will also work to enhance the training capacity of existing
vocational and technical education training institutions, Official said |
