SC issues detail verdict on Nawaz’s return
Staff Report

ISLAMABAD—The Supreme Court of Pakistan in its detailed verdict regarding the Nawaz Sharif case has ruled out that no citizen of Pakistan can be “exiled” or barred from entry into his Country despite anything.
The Larger Bench, headed by CJ, Muhammad Iftikhar Chaudhry, and compromising of Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, Mr. Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, Mr. Justice M. Javed Buttar, Mr. Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, and Mr. Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmad were responding to the petitions No. 48 and 49 of 2007. The verdict cites article 12(4), as implicitly prohibiting forcible exile, in violation of the article. Besides both international and national laws prohibit forced exiles.
The “undertaking “ by the petitioners has also been taken into consideration, and their journey to Saudi Arabia under specific circumstances cannot be termed as a “forced exile”, since it was never challenged for a couple of years, and besides the petitioners were quite aware regarding the undertaking against which they were released from jail.
