JI to protest
against military action in NWA
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD—Jamaat-e-Islami will observe country wide protest day on the
call of JI Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad against massive killings of citizens
in North Waziristan in security forces bombing on Friday (today).
JI Rawalpindi media cell said protest demonstrations would be held in
all the four provinces and Azad Kashmir. The spokesman told all the
preparations have been finalized to stage demonstrations at 50 places in
Rawalpindi. Resolution will be adopted in Jumma congregations against
military operation and pamphlets will be distributed in this regard.
JI Rawalpindi Amir Dr Hafiz ur Rehman alleged pitching armed forces
against the people is part of US agenda. Rulers should try to understand
the situation and resolve the matters through Jirga, he added. The
civilian population has suffered heavily in the military operation
continuing from the last four days. People are forced to migrate to
other places.
Rulers should protect national interests rather than becoming part of
this US game, he underlined. Meanwhile JI NWFP Amir Seraj ul Haq has
announced to convene APDM meeting and stage protest demonstration today
against military operation in North Waziristan. He made this
announcement while addressing a press conference in Peshawar press club
Thursday.
He alleged the military operation launched by rulers against the
innocent citizens in Waziristan at the behest of US has been turned into
war. In Iraq and Afghanistan, if Muslims are martyred on one side then
on the other side NATO forces are killed but in North Waziristan Muslims
were being killed from both sides.
