Rescue 1122 receives 21517 calls

ISLAMABAD—The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Rawalpindi,
responded 302 emergency calls out of total received 21517 calls since
the Service was formally inaugurated.
Official source in Rescue 1122 told APP that calls received on the toll
free number of the service is responded immediately through effective
wireless communication system by nearest Rescue station.
The Control Room monitors response time when a call is received till the
Ambulances reaches at incident site, he added. It has been observed that
140 Emergencies of road traffic accidents were managed with efficient
and effective response, rescue, medical treatment and safe
transportation by trained emergency medical technicians.
Patients were not only timely shifted to hospitals but they were given
first aid during hospitalization to minimize the morbidity and mortality
by giving emergency medical care in first hour.
He said 40 fire emergencies were managed professionally, adding that the
rescuers reached a place of fire at Haji Chowk in Sadiqabad market
within five minutes and extinguished the fire. The Service took part
into two major incidents of Bomb blast, one at Qasim Market and another
at RA Bazar, he said adding that the victims were shifted to Allied
Hospitals of Rawalpindi, he said.
The Service also responded promptly to incident of Wall Collapse at
Mureer Hussan and saved lives of two labourers, who got buried under the
debris of collapsed wall.
The Service dealt with average 6 to 7 emergencies daily with average
response time 6 minutes, he said adding that data showed that
information seeking, kids, boys and girls disturbing, wrong and
distorted calls were more in number as compared to genuine emergency
calls.
