ECC panel reviews IPI Gas Pipeline project

ISLAMABAD—The meeting of Sub-Committee of the Steering Committee of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of Cabinet constituted on the IPI project reviewed the project here on Thursday.
Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Amanullah KhanJadoon presided over the meeting held prior to the upcoming Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting of Pakistan and Iran on IPI gaspipeline project scheduled in the 3rd week of this month here.
The other members of the committee including Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance, Dr. Salman Shah, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Dr. M . Akram Sheikh, Secretary Finance, Ahmad Waqar and Secretary Petroleum, Farrukh Qayyum attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the status of the project and providedguidance in order to negotiating and finalizing the agreements with the Iranian side in the next JWG meeting.
The Minister emphasized the importance of the project for sustainable economic growth of the country which will also prove to be a catalyst for bringing peace in the region.
The Minister appreciated the work done by the whole Pakistani team for bringing the project to its advance stage of finalization.
