Media urged to educate masses about Musalihat Anjumans role

ISLAMABAD—Federal Secretary Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Muhammad Saleem Khan has stressed the need for effective media activities to educate the masses about Musalihat Anjumans (MAs) project.
He said the project is aimed at assisting women and other vulnerable sections of society in improving their conditions through safeguarding and promoting their rights and lawful entitlement.
While briefing about Gender Justice Through Musalihat Anjuman Project (GJTMAP) he said “Ministry is doing a commendable job in providing justice to vulnerable at grass roots level.” Under the project, he said, the Ministry has constituted and mobilizedMusalihat Anjumans (Arbitration Committee) in all Unions Councils in the selected districts (under section 102,LGO 2001) across the country.
The Secretary appreciated that out of total 3,519 cases received by MAs, 2,499 (71 percent) have been solved amicably. He also attributed the increasing number of women becoming MA members that would help in changing the out look of our society.
The Assistant Resident Representative (ARR) UNDP, Faiza Effendi ssured of UNDP’s continued support as required and admired the remarkable Project performance.
