PCB may
forgive Afridi for outburst
LAHORE—Pakistan Cricket Board has failed to take any action against all
rounder Shahid Afridi, despite his recent outburst on the PCB and
members of the Pakistan team are feeling insecure because of his
influence in the Board.
Afridi recently stated to the newsmen that he was not the one who was
leaking information and news to the media, instead some PCB officials
are doing so.
A few days ago Afirdi appeared before the disciplinary committee of the
PCB which is probing into the spat which led to the ugly incident in
which express bowler Shoaib Akhtat hit his new ball partner with the bat
at a training session before the Twenty-20 World Cup in South Africa.
After appearing before the committee, Afridi openly denied leaking
information to media and instead held some PCB officials responsible for
the act.
“We feel insecure because Afridi has emerged as a leading example of
players power in the team and he can do what ever he wants”, said
sources in Pakistan cricket team while quoting some players who
requested not be named here on Wednesday.
They said Afirdi has a long history of creating trouble in the team and
the team management despite knowing all that has failed to take any
action.
“If he can accuse PCB openly and no action is taken against him which
showed that he has strong influence in the PCB because of being their
blue eyed boy”,they said.
Now Afridi is engaged in a campaign against an opener of the team and
his desires is to replace as vice captain, they added.
Afridi was accused of leaking the details of the Shoaib-Asif incident in
South Africa to the local media, otherwise the matter was inside the
team and the management and it was decided not to bring to public, but
Afridi promptly reported it to some country media men which gave ample
chance to the Indian media present in South Africa to create
controversy.
When asked to comment on Afridi’s recent remarks, a top official of the
PCB said the matter has been reported to them and they will be looking
into it soon.—Agencies |
