Pakistan grabs one more gold on penultimate day

BEIJING—Pakistan grabbed one more gold on the penultimate day Wednesday in the competitions as most of the games in the Special Olympics World Summer Games came to an end at Shanghai.
Pakistan’s Bilal Hussain got the gold in Aquatics (Swimming) in 25 meter free style. He already bagged a gold yesterday in 4x25 relay. Shahid Husain earned a bronze for Pakistan in 200 meters. Sumera Shafqat won silver in 200 meters today. She already won a gold in 100 meters yesterday. In Swimming till today Pakistan bagged 4 gold, 2 silvers and one bronze, a total of 7 medals.
Few competitions in Athletics are still to go. The left-over athletics competitions will be completed tomorrow before the concluding ceremony schedule in the evening.
Athletic coach Arshad Javed expect medal in 4x 100 meter relay tomorrow. Athletic event brought 13 medals for home. Pakistani players won 2 gold, 8 silvers, and 3 bronze in different events.
In table tennis Faisal added on silver to his credit and Sheroz finished 4th in the same event. Faisal and Sheroz added one bronze in medal tally in men’s doubles. Zehra finished 4th and Nadia finished 5th in girls singles events in a draw of six, whereas Zehra pairing with Nadia won silver in girl’s doubles event.
The Bocce events were also completed with last match of team event in which Pakistan Team won a silver. Footballers shall return home empty handed as they finished 7th. Pakistan, however, attained 7th position, out of 123 countries participated in the foot ball competition.
In Badminton event Zubi of Pakistan won Bronze in girl’s singles event. Tomorrow morning Girls doubles event shall be held and Coach hopes to do well in this competition.—Agencies
