Flour price reluctant to come down

KARACHI—Despite all the tall claims of the government, the supply of wheat at the official rate remained limited to only 10 percent of the 3,500 grinding mills here and, therefore, the flour is still being sold at Rs20 per kilo in the city. Sources in Karachi Retailers Association said that the flour mills owners have set up 100 stalls all across the mega-metropolis, where flour is being sold at Rs13 per kilo. However, the wheat supply at the official rate has remained limited to only 10 percent of the 3,500 grinding mills in the city, while the remaining 90 percent were being forced to buy wheat through brokers, which has resulted in the grinding mills’ flour still being sold at Rs20 per kilo.
