PBM benefiting 16m deserving persons: MD

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) is benefitting more than 16 million
deserving people through its 100 projects across the country.
Managing Director PBM Brig. (retd) Muhammad Sarfraz said this while
talking to Secretary Social Welfare and Special Education Rasool Bux
Baloch, who visited PBM here Tuesday.
During the visit, Brig (retd) Sarfraz briefed the Secretary about the
efforts and achievements of his organization and said Bait-ul-Mal is
significantly contributing towards poverty alleviation through its
various poorest of the poor focused services.
He said PBM is providing assistance to widow, orphan, destitute,
invalid, infirm and other needy persons, as per eligibility criteria
approved by it.
Managing Director said “We are also providing social protection to the
poor and needy segments of the society for their rehabilitation, adding,
PBM has the transparency and ability to reach the deserving people by
investigating through its own resources”.
Brig (retd) Sarfraz said Bait-ul-Mal is also providing assistance for
education to needy students and also stipends for the outstanding
students for higher professional education.
Besides, he said we have set up national centres for Rehabilitation of
Child Labour to educate street and working children. Uniforms, books,
stationery to the students are also provided by PBM.
He said that passed out students from these rehabilitation centres are
admitted to the government schools for further education upto 8th class
with annual stipend of Rs. 4100 per student.
Muhammad Sarfraz said PBM is also financing free medical treatment and
set up hospitals and rehabilitation centres for the poor people.
PBM would set up Advanced Diagnostic and Research Centre in Peshawar to
provide free medical treatment to the deserving persons.
He said Bait-ul-Mal budget has been increased from Rs. 300 million to Rs.
7 billion. |
