NWFP Assembly dissolution

PESHAWAR—Chief Minister NWFP Akram Khan Durrani by using his authorities
in accordance with the constitution has sent summary to Governor NWFP
for the dissolution of the provincial Assembly and demanded the Governor
to issue the orders for the dissolution of the Assembly.
Talking to media men here after the session of NWFP Assembly, the CM
NWFP said that the draft after signed sent to Governor NWFP Ali Muhammad
Jan Orakzai. The CM NWFP said that the decision regarding the
dissolution of NWFP Assembly was taken from the platform of All Parties
Democratic Movement (APDM) which would be implemented at all costs.
Terming the dissolution of NWFP Assembly imperative, Akram Khan Durrani
said that those who not resigned violated the decision of APDM.
Commenting on withdrawn of No Trust Move due to pressure by Speaker
Bakht Jehan on Opposition, Akram Khan Durrani said that it was also
possible to pressurize members not to cast vote in the favor of
Musharraf.
Expressing his views on the rift in MMA, the CM NWFP said that the
efforts would be made to remove differences in the meeting of Supreme
Council, adding that JUI is biggest party of MMA and due to its
majority, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman became the Opposition Leader in the
Center while I became Leader of the House in NWFP Assembly.
Earlier, addressing in a Assembly Session, the CM NWFP said that he
still has the confidence of the majority of the members of the House,
adding that he did not give the date of the dissolution of the Assembly,
the date was fixed by APDM.
He said that he never compromised on principles but expressed his
disappointment over the behavior of members who enjoyed five years in
Government and left in difficult time. The leaders of Akram Ullah Shahid
resigned but he did not, added by Akram Durrani. Emphasizing unity and
harmony in the country, the Chief Minister of NWFP said that tribal
people are being murdered in the tribal areas.
Commenting on the completion of two years of devastating earthquake
struck the country on October 8, 2005, Akram Khan Durrani said that
despite of political differences, the NWFP Government provided funds to
Opposition, adding that in the Center, the Opposition members were not
get funds. Meanwhile, the Opposition members after the completion of the
Presidential Elections on October 6, withdrawn the No Trust Move against
the Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani.
The No Trust Move against NWFP Chief Minister was on the agenda in NWFP
Assembly session on Monday but after the start of session, Israr Ullah
Gandapur while talking on point of order referred the constitution and
said that the Chief Minister after lost the support of Jamat-e-Islami
has not majority. The Speaker should request the Governor to direct the
Chief Minister to prove his majority in the Assembly. Wajihuddin and
Akram Ullah Shahid supported this.
Provincial Law Minister Malik Zafar Azam, Sadar Adris, Maulana
Asmatullah and Amanat Shah opposed the demand regarding request to
Governor and said that voting should be held on No Trust Move which was
on the agenda. The Opposition members opposed this and said that it is a
constitutional issue and should be solved according to the constitution.
Speaker Bakhat Jehan while giving ruling said that the Governor NWFP
should realize his responsibility. The treasury members opposed the
Speaker ruling. After detail discussion, member PML-Q, Nighat Orakzai
while announcing the withdrawn of No Trust Move said that our objective
has been achieved as NWFP Assembly cast vote in the favor of President
Musharraf.
Ghaliba Khurshid, Qazi Asad and Wajihuddin opposed the withdrawn of the
No Trust Move. |
