Final touches given for three ODI match series

MIRPUR—Organizers including Pakistan Cricket Board and the local Organizing committee gave final touches here Monday to the programs for holding of the three one day interantional cricket matches between visiting Australia Under 19 and its Pakistani counterpart at Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Stadium Mirpur on October 9, 10 and 12.
A high level meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner Raja Zaffar Hussain approved the programmes to hold three scheduled one day international cricket match series between touring Australia under-19 with the home team at Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Azad Kashmir under the aegis of PCB with the coordination of the local organizing committee in a befitting manner.
Besides the PCB official and Coordinating Manager Rizwan Hateeb,he meeting was attended among others by Chairman Organizing Committee amd MDA Sardar Muhammad Rahim Khan other officials of the district administration besides journalists.
Addressing the meeting, senior PCB official and Coordinating manager Rizwan Hateeb declared that bright potential was available for holding of the quality cricket including one day international and test matches in Mirpur Azad Kashmir following the availcability of the world-class stadium in the town.
He said that during his during his current and earlier visits to Mirpur, he was satisfied of the required arrangements for holding of the scheduled cricket contests in Mirpur - AJK. Referring to the standard of Quaid-e-Azam Mirpur Cricket Stadium, the PCB official termed it one of the best stadiums he visited so far and not less in standard as compared to any other stadium of national and international repute. He also appreciated the facilities being extended at Mirpur Stadium.
The PCB officials said that Pakistan Cricket Board will encourage and manage the holding of one day international cricket matches in MIRPUR in the future as well. The scheduled three ODIs on October 9, 10 and 12 will be the opening of the plan for holding the first class and international cricket contests at the Quaid-e-Azam stadium of this scenic and model city of Azad Jammu Kashmir, he added.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman Organising Committee Sardar Muhammad Rahim Khan informed that there will be totally free entry for all ages to witness all the three scheduled matches. He said that AJK Prime Minister will be the chief guest at the second ODI to be played on October 10. Both the teams will be introduced to the Prime Minister who will watch the match for some time.
The Organizing committee also gave final touches the fool proof security plan moved by the District police to ensure maintaining complete peace and order during matches besides for the safety and security of the players and all concerned including spectator.
The media management committee apprised the meeting of the arrangements made so far to ensure wide-scale coverage of all the scheduled three one day matches on the national print and electronic media before and during the events of the international repute.
Holding of the scheduled international cricket matches is not only aimed at to promote and provide quality cricket in Azad Kashmir but particularly is to raise and project the name of AJK’s model city of Mirpur and the local Cricket stadium on the global horizon.
A huge turnout of the cricket fans not only from home but also from various adjoining areas of Mirpur district including from Kotli, Bhimbher, Rawalpindi/ Islamabad, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Gujrat and other places.—Agencies
