special about President’s re-election: FO

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan on Monday said that the Foreign Countries do not show
special reaction over the re-election of President General Pervez
Musharraf from the incumbent assemblies, however, messages of
congratulation have been received from some countries.
There is no instability in the country, said Foreign Office Spokesperson
Tasnim Aslam in a weekly Press briefing to media men. She said major
change has been witnessed in earthquake-affected areas of Azad Jammu
Kashmir (AJK) after October 8 2005, when the Pakistani nation faced
history’s worst catastrophe.
Homes are being constructed in earthquake affected areas, she said,
adding that three more years will be required in complete rehabilitation
of earthquake affectees. We have received 2.5 billion dollar under head
of donations and 3.1 billion under head of loans out of 5.7 billion
dolla the amount pledges by foreign countries during international
donors conference held in Islamabad, she maintained.Upto 3 billion
dollars has been utilized for reconstruction of earthquake affected
areas and rehabilitation of earthquake survivors, the Spokeswoman said,
added, various countries has not come up to our expectations. The
spokeswoman said that the talks between Pakistan and India on
traditional and non-traditional departments would be held in New Delhi
on Oct 18 and 19. The Participants will give recommendations during the
talks. Two agreements including speedy return of inadvertent line
crossers and prevention of incidents at sea will be inked, Tasnim Aslam
pointed out.
The session of Pak-India on anti terrorism mechanism will be held on
October 22 in which issues related to promote cooperation for the
elimination terrorism, she disclosed. There is no instability in the
country, she said, added, Government is keen to hold, free, fair and
transparent next general elections. She rejected the impression that the
Pak-India peace procession is in limbo due to ongoing political scenario
of the country. We have completed four round of composite dialogue with
India but no considerable progress had been witnessed in resolution of
Kashmir issue, Tasnim asserted.
Both countries should take advantage from the cordial atmosphere, FO
Spokesperson demanded. She says she, as a Pakistani ambassador to Italy
will try her level best to solve the problem being faced by Pakistani
community living there. Answering to question, she said, India does not
open Siachen for international tourist but some cadet groups are being
sent there. She said Pakistan is looking for complete investigation
report of Samjhota express carnage.
Foreign Office spokesperson Ms. Tasnim Aslam, who has been appointed
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Italy, will take charge of her new
responsibilities in Rome after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Ms. Aslam on Monday handed over the responsibilities of the Foreign
Office spokesperson to her successor Muhammad Sadiq. Foreign Secretary
Riaz Muhammad Khan also hosted an Iftar dinner here at the Foreign
Office on Monday, which was attended by local and foreign media.
