SPI registers nominal increase
ISLAMABAD—The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on
October 4 for lowest income group up to Rs 3,000 has registered nominal
increase of 0.46 per cent over the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was
recorded at 166.67 as against 165.91 recorded in the previous week,
according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The weekly SPI has been
computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53
essential items for all income groups and combined.
The SPI for the combined group registered an increase of 0.48 percent by
increasing from 161.68 in the previous week to 162.45 in the week under
review. During the week under review average prices of 9 items
registered decrease, while that of 18 items increased with the remaining
26 items’ prices unchanged.
The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the
week under review included, cigarettes k-2, garlic, chicken (farm),
wheat flour average quality, rice irri-6 kg, voil printed material, mash
pulse washed, bananas, rice basmati broken. The items which registered
increase in their prices included, tomatoes, onions, LPG ( 11 kg
cylender), wheat average quality, mustard oil, red chillies, bread plain
(mid size), coarse latha material, egg hen (farm), firewood, shirting
material, gur, vegetable ghee loose, potatoes, gram pulse washed,
electricity bulb (60wats), moong pulse washed, masoor pulse
