PPP taken for a ride: Shujaat

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) is not a party or a group specific while PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has described NRO a political maneour on the part of government whereby ruling party has succeeded and opposition is divided.
They said this while addressing a joint press conference here Sunday in Prime Minister house. Federal ministers Muhammad Ali Durrani, senator Tariq Azeem, Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain and Sumera Malik were also present on the occasion. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz held NRO will bring an end to political vendetta, victimization and mud slinging against each other.
He underlined presidential elections had concluded peacefully and in a befitting manner. The ruling PML-Q and its allied parties demonstrated positive attitude and re-elected president general Pervez Musharraf for the second term of five years. However opposition’s boycott of the elections is regrettable , he regretted. .Had opposition been present there, it would have made no difference for us, he remarked.
Contacts and dialogue with all parties are underway to improve political environment, he told. There is no difference in ruling party over ordinance, he added. This was a difficult decision and some treasury members had their reservations in this respect, he indicated. But such things are part of the process of legislation, he remarked. PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujat Hussain said NRO was a “political maneour on our part and we have succeeded and opposition has divided over it ”.
Responding to a question with respect to future of NRO he said night is out, matter is over. He told Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not extend cooperation during presidential elections nor any such accord was reached with him. The PML-Q provincial leadership will decide about withdrawing no trust motion against NWFP chief minister Muhammad Ali Durrani, he indicated. He pointed out one of the four opposition legislators who had cast vote in favor of president Musharraf had joined PML-Q. The talks are in process with other three legislators, he added.
He held opposition had recognized presidential election by filing nomination papers. This is tremendous achievement on our part in presidential elections. “ We wanted there should be no confrontation and it did not occur”, he added. PPP central leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim while commenting about Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain statement regarding National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) said that no one can deceive Pakistan People Party (PPP). While talking to a Private Channel he said that PPP has always spoke for the restoration of democracy and it did not back out what it did say.
He further said that PPP will strictly act upon on its promises and it is the responsibility of the party to abide by its principal either somebody else observe it or not. Secretary Information Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab Farazana Raja has said that PML(Q) has exposed itself by confessing the politics of manipulation.
In a statement issued, she said after announcing National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), the present conduct of the leadership of Q-league shows their insincerity and apolitical attitude. She said PML-Q was not a political party, but it was a group of influential people that had always come into power through conspiracies and to perpetuate its rule Q-league provided indemnity to a big number of sitting ministers in present cabinet.
She said NRO was defeat of Chaudhry brothers, who have confused due to massive dispersion in PML-Q.
