Australian U-19 arrive to play 3 ODIs in Mirpur

MIRPUR—The visiting Under-19 national cricket team of Australia on Sunday reached Mirpur to play three One Day International (ODI) cricket match-series at the Quaid-e-Azam International Cricket Stadium scheduled to be held on October 9, 10 and 12 respectively.
According to the official sources, all matches are being played under the auspices of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) with the coordination of the local organizing committee. Meanwhile, all arrangements have been finalized to hold three ODIs cricket matches being played between visiting team and Pakistani players in Mirpur.
A high level meeting in this regard was held here and chaired by Divisional Commissioner Raja Zaffar Hussain. The meeting approved the programe and matches to be played at Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Stadium Mirpur, under the aegis of PCB with the coordination of the local organizing committee in a befitting manner.
Besides, the PCB official and Coordinating Manager Rizwan Hateeb, also held meeting here. Among others, the meeting was attended by Chairman Organizing Committee and MDA Sardar Muhammad Rahim Khan, Chairman Reception Committee Raja Fazal ur Rehman, Incharge Mirpur Cricket Stadium Mirza Kaleem Jiraal, ex City Mayor Ch. Muhammad Ashraf, members of Media Management Committee, Secretary Organizing Committee, Incharge Stadium Mirza Kaleem Jiraal, ASP Muhammad Kamran, Vice President District Cricket Association Nawaz Ritayal and Khalid Rattiyal, and other officials of the district administration.
Addressing the meeting, senior PCB official and Coordinating Manager Rizwan Hateeb said that bright potential was available for holding one day international and test matches in Mirpur following the availability of the world-class stadium in the town.
Referring to the standard of Quaid-e-Azam Mirpur Cricket Stadium, the PCB official termed it one of the best stadium as compared to any other stadium of national and international repute.
The officials said that PCB will encourage and manage the holding of ODI cricket matches in Mirpur in future as well. Chairman Organizing Committee, Sardar Muhammad Rahim Khan told the meeting that entry to witness the matches would be totally free, for all ages.
He said that AJK Premier, will be the chief guest at the 2nd ODI to be played on October 10. Australian U-19 cricket team is currently on tour to Pakistan.
Two ODIs have already been played in Sheikhpura, whereas remaining three are being played at Quaid-e-Azam International Cricket stadium on Oct 9, 10 and 12 respectively. The media management committee apprised the meeting of the arrangements made so far to ensure wide-range coverage of all the scheduled matches on the print and electronic media.—Agencies
