APHC to
observe last Friday as Kashmir Day
NEW DELHI—All Parties Hurriyat Conference has announced to observe last
Friday of Ramzan as “Kashmir Day” to draw the attention of the world
community towards Kashmir issue.
Media reports quoting APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq while addressing
Juma congregation in Srinagar said the situation in occupied Kashmir was
extremely worrisome. “The situation in the state is extremely worrisome.
A lasting and durable solution to Kashmir issue as per the wishes and
aspirations of people only will ensure peace in the region,” Mirwaiz
Umer Farooq said. He said “instances of human rights violations are on
the rise while bloodbaths and killings have assumed alarming
proportions.” The last Friday will also be observed as “Al-Quds Day”
along with Kashmir Day under the banner of Hurriyat Conference to
express solidarity with the people of Palestine. He appealed to the
international community to ensure participation of Kashmiris in the
ongoing peace dialogue between Pakistan and India. He said this issue
has made more than one billion population of the region as hostage. Now
the time has come to resolve this issue according to the wishes of the
people of Kashmir. Mirwaiz while supporting the proposals of President
Pervez Musharraf on Kashmir said it can become basis for the resolution
