700 security officials to be deputed for Presidential Elections

ISLAMABAD—On the occasion of the Presidential Elections 2007 to be held
today (Saturday), the Government has taken unprecedented steps to ensure
law and order nearly 47000 Security Officials would be deputed through
out the country and outside of the Parliament House and Provincial
Assemblies of the four provinces.
The spokesperson of the Interior Ministry Brig (retd) Javed Iqbal Cheema
while talking to media said that the security plan to ensure security in
the country on the occasion of the Presidential Elections has been
finalized.
He informed that the Security Officials would check all the ways leading
to the Parliament House and the persons having special passes would only
be allowed to enter in the Parliament House. The journalists are allowed
to enter in the Parliament House on the basis of the cards of the last
session of the National Assembly, he added.
Besides Anti Terrorism Squad, more than 700 security officials would be
deputed around the Parliament House while officials of the Intelligence
Agency in plain clothes would present in the Press Gallery, he added.
A Central Control Room has also been setup aiming to monitor
Presidential Elections. The Spokesperson of the Interior Minister said
that foolproof security would also be provided to the members of the
Parliament and their vehicles would also be checked.
The Opposition are also not allowed to protest on Presidential Elections
and those who would take law into their hands be dealt strictly. |
