Govt wants all political parties onboard on national issues: Anisa
By Hina Kiyani
ISLAMABAD—Minister of State for Education, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheili has
said that, government’s reconciliation efforts are aimed at bringing all
political parties onboard to create consensus on issues of national
interest.
At present efforts are being made for reconciliation and after
achievement of this goal ways and means to evolve consensus on issues of
national importance would be explored, the Minister told newsmen.
She said the impression that talks are PPPP specific is mere speculation
adding rather the government wants to withdraw cases against all
politicians on which no progress has been made during past so many
years.
This concession would be across the board and PPPP will not be the only
beneficiary of this step, the Minister elaborated.
It was being said by certain individuals that such cases were framed in
past as political vengeance and were not based on erit.
The government has been trying from day one to bring all stake holders
on board to put the country on path to progress she said adding but
unfortunately the political parties were not thinking on these lines.
Government believes in flexibility and has never adopted rigid stance on
any issue, she said.
Resignations of APDM parliamentarians at a time when the assemblies are
close to completing their tenure is regrettable.
They should have stayed in the field to vote for their supported
presidential candidate, the Minister said.
She said the general elections are on the threshold and the national
reconciliation efforts would create more confidence among the masses to
elect their representative.
The Minister denied the impression that government has adopted this
policy under any foreign pressure.
To a question she said the electoral collage of the presidential
election would remain in tact despite the resignations of APDM
parliamentarians. |
