World Teachers’ Day provides an opportunity to draw public attention to the important role of teachers within the society. This year, the day will be celebrated with the aim to engage teachers, students and their communities over all the world to get the message across that better working conditions for teachers mean better learning conditions for learners.
The working conditions include a safe, healthy working environment for teachers and students, appropriate class sizes, ample resources, reasonable wages, equal working conditions for women, initial and on-going professional development and involvement in policy-making. The day will also raise awareness of the important role educators play in the lives of our future generations.—Agencies
