Iftar parties strengthen relations of kinship

ISLAMABAD—Iftar parties in Ramazan offer an opportunity of gathering for families, friends and relatives and strengthen ties of kinship.
The trend of arranging iftar parties surges in the last ten days of Ramazan as people belonging to all segments like to have `iftari’ collectively.
“We love to have iftari at various restaurants of the city. We were excited on the arrival of Ramazan and as the whole month we spend enjoying iftars out with our friends even if there were traffic jams,” a group of youngsters remarked. Organizing iftar parties is no more an exclusive family occasion. It has become an annual event for public to promote their business interests.
Most of the large companies and businessmen including political parties organize grand iftar parties for their staff and clients in luxury hotels and restaurants.
The leading hotels arrange a separate area to hold iftar parties. There are also businessmen and known political figures who hold iftar parties at their homes or luxury villas.
An official at a local hotel said that most of the Ramazan reservations were made by companies and other organizations while family reservations accounts less. During the holy month the restaurants are crowded after iftar but the trend of iftar parties increases during the last ten days of the holy month.
Iftar parties has almost become necessary for politicians of every stripe. Great care is then taken to ensure that suitable photographs appear in the next day’s papers.
