Armed forces’ professionalism, dedication a source of strength for nation: PM

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday lauded the role of country’s armed forces in meeting national challenges to ensure security and extending help when the country faced natural disasters.
The Prime Minister was talking to outgoing Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ashan Saleem Hyat who called on him at the PM House.
The Prime Minister particularly appreciated the participation of army in the relief and rehabilitation efforts for the earthquake-hit people by providing them food, shelter and medical care.
The affected people, he added, would never forget the assistance provided by soldiers particularly in the un-accessible areas which could not be reached by means of transport.
The Prime Minister said the government was committed to maintaining credible defence through conventional and strategic capabilities, as Pakistan had a major role to play for peace and stability in the region.
The Prime Minister appreciated the services of outgoing Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ashan Saleem Hyat and termed him a professional soldier who dedicated his career in serving the country.
The Prime Minister said professionalism, dedication and commitment of Pakistan’s Armed Forces was a source of strength for the country.
He said the people of Pakistan feel proud of them for protecting the country’s borders and for serving as UN peacekeeping mission across the world with a lead role.
