WB assures help in implementation of public-private partnership plan

ISLAMABAD—The World Bank has assured to extend its full help and cooperation in the execution of public private partnership plan, launched by the government for providing more and better public services through improved infrastructure.
The assurance was extended by the Sector Director of the World Bank's South Asia Sustainable Development Unit (SASSD), Ms. Constance Bernard, Senior Infrastructure Specialist, Mihaly Kopanyi and Lead Infrastructure Specialist, Clive Harris in a meeting with Aijaz Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of the Infrastructure Project Development Facility (IPDF), Ministry of Finance, here.
SASSD Sector Director said that the World Bank would extend its full cooperation, help and assistance to Pakistan for undertaking PPP projects.
SASSD is working for the promotion of economic growth strategies in South Asia and it extends necessary help and assistance to Pakistan and other countries in the region, in policy formulation and execution of projects designed to alleviate poverty.
IPDF's CEO, Aijaz Ahmad gave a update on the activities of IPDF to the delegation and inform them that substational progress has been made in creating an enabling environment for PPP's in Pakistan. Mr. Aijaz Ahmad said that the list of infrastructure Projects in IPDF's pipeline has increased over 50, out of which 21 are on the active list.—Agencies
The projects are spread over all four provinces of the country.
