All set for Presidential election: EC

ISLAMABAD—The Election Commission of Pakistan has finalized all necessary arrangements to hold election for the office of President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
“Yes, we are fully prepared to go for Presidential election,” said Secretary Election Commission, Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad on Wednesday. “Election Commission is prepared for smooth and transparent polls for the office of the President,” he told APP when inquired about the preparations.
Dilshad said, the Election Commission has asked the Speakers of National and Provincial Assemblies to prepare for the polling on October 06, 2007. “Polling will be held from 10 a.m to 3 p.m,” he said. The Secretary Election Commission said, in Islamabad Chief Election Commissioner, Qazi Muhammad Farooq would act as Returning Officer and Chief Justices of the High Court would act as the Presiding Officers at the Provincial Assemblies. The Chief Election Commissioner will conduct the proceedings of the special session of the National Assembly and the Senate for the election of president.
The election of the President is carried out through secret ballot unlike the election for the Speaker and the Prime Minister.
