Lal Masjid re-opened for faithfuls after SC order

ISLAMABAD—District Administration Islamabad on Wednesday re-opened Lal Masjid for worshippers following the orders of Supreme Court. Chief Commissioner Islamabad Hamid Ali Khan, Acting Deputy Commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed and officials of district administration were present on the occasion when Lal Masjid was re-opened during Zuhr prayers.
Earlier, a meeting presided by Acting Deputy Commissioner was held which was attended by the representative of Wafaq-ul-Madaris Qazi Rasheed, Maulana Abdul Ghaffar, Amir Siddique, Mufti Farooq and residents of sector G-6. Maulana Abdul Ghaffar was appointed Imam Lal Masjid and Amir Siddique as Naib Imam on temporary basis.
The district administration, ulema and local residents agreed to follow a code of ethics so as to run the affairs of the mosque peacefully. An adhoc committee comprising Maulana Abdul Ghaffar, Amir Siddique, Mufti Muhammad Farooq, Qari Idress Abbas, Ch. Khuda Baksh, Raja Liaqat and Deputy Director Auqaf was constituted.
The committee would seek guidance from district administration and Auqaf department to run the affairs of the masjid. The meeting said that loud speaker would be only used for Azaan, Friday sermon in Arabic language and Juma prayer.
The mosque will remain closed at night and only residents of sector G-6 would be allowed for `Aitikaf’ after permission by the committee. The cards will be issued to the security staff bearing their names and father name while their record would be maintained with the District administration.
The walk-through gates will be installed in the Masjid while a gate near `Darul Afta’ will remain open. The barbed wires along Sunday Bazaar would not be removed till installation of grills while no construction would be made. No person would be allowed to stay in the mosque except ten security staff.
