MMA MPA joins PML(Q)

KARACHI—MMA, a component of APDM, in Sindh Assembly suffered a setback when one of its MPA, Abdul Rehman Rajpur, from Hyderabad announced his dissociation from the party and joining the fold of Pakistan Muslim League(Q).
He affirmed his decision at a press conference addressed by Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim at Chief Minister House here Tuesday while MMA leaders awaited him in Sindh Assembly for submission of his resignation.
Dr Arbab arrived at the press conference along with MPA Rajput and said that he has announced to join Muslim League and, therefore, did not resign from his seat along with other MMA MPAs. Abdul Rehman announced to joint PML at a time when Presidential election is due to be held on October 6. “I understand that during the last 5 years President Pervez Musharraf has strengthened democracy in the country and he is not inclined to resign”, Rajput said in his remarks. Pointing out that he tried to convince his colleagues to refrain from resigning, he said when they refused he decided not to submit his resignation and instead vote for the President.
“I have decided to fully support Chief Minister Dr Arbab”, Rajput announced acknowledging the services of Chief Minister for Sindh Province, for democracy and welfare of people. “I could not serve my people while remaining in the opposition and now when I have joined the Government I will show no letup in serving their cause”, he declared.
