Faithful to sit in Aitkaaf to explore Lailatul Qadr
By Bushra Makhdoom

ISLAMABAD—The last ten days of Ramazan have their significant importance as hundreds of thousands of faithful will sit in aitkaaf in mosques, shrines and houses.
The faithful will follow Sunnah of Holy Prophet (PBUH) to pass last week of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak in isolation so as to fully concentrate on the teachings of Islam. Aitkaaf in Islamic terminology, sitting in seclusion in the mosque or wherever you want away from the world and its unnecessary material accessories.
It is a tradition as old as mankind. All Prophets and Sufis did this from time to time, and it was thus how Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) got the first revelation.
In the last ten days of Ramazan there is a night called as “Lailatul Qadr” or “Lailatul Mubaraka” (The sacred night of blessings). Worshiping in this night alone is better and more virtuous than worshiping one thousand nights.
This night ought to be sought from amongst the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan that is not to sleep and awake in the five nights and worship Allah.
By offering salaat during this night with a spirit of faith and accountability, all the sins committed in the past are granted pardon by Allah.
In different mosques of the twin cities, arrangements for Aitkaaf have been finalized. The lectures regarding its different aspects has been delivered to provide an opportunity to the faithful to perform their prayers smoothly.
Ramazan is important for the training and preparation of the Muslims. In the state of hunger and thirst, special arrangements for prayers, reciting of Holy Quran, spending for the needy, and Aitkaaf, all are the sources to gather the fruits of this month.
