SPI registers decrease in prices of kitchen items

ISLAMABAD—The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on
September 27 for lowest income group up to Rs 3000 has registered
decrease of 0.87 per cent over the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was
recorded at 165.91 as against 167.36 recorded in the previous week,
according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17
urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
The SPI for the combined group registered a reduction of 0.69percent by
decreasing from 162.81 in the previous week to 161.68 in the week under
review.
During the week under review average prices of 13 itemsregistered
decrease, while that of 17 items increased with the remaining 23 items’
prices unchanged.
The items which recorded decrease in their average pricesduring the week
under review included, tomatoes, onions, wheat flour average quality,
wheat average quality, bananas, garlic, potatoes, moong pulse washed,
gram pulse washed, mash pulse washed, lawn material, red chillies and
sugar. The items which registered increase in their prices included,
bath soap lifebuoy, LPG ( 11 kg cylender), coarse latha material, egg
hen (farm), shirting material, chicken (farm), mustard oil, vegetable
ghee loose, rice basmati broken, masoor pulse washed, washing soap
nylon, voil printed material, gur, firewood, rice irri- 6 kg, mutton and
beef The items with no change in their average prices during the week
under review included, bread plain (mid size), milk fresh liter, milk
powdered Nido, curd, vegetable ghee (tin), cooking oil(tin), salt
powdered, tea packet, tea (prepared) cup, cooked beef plate, cooked dal
plate, cigarettes k-2, sandal gents Bata pair,sandal ladies Bata pair,
chappal spng.Bata pair, kerosene liter, electricity bulb, 60wats, match
box, gas charges up to 3.3719 MMBTU, electricity charges, petrol liter,
diesel liter, telephone local. |
