PIMS ED refuses to admit injured journalist

ISLAMABAD—Executive Director (ED) of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Monday refused to admit one of the injured journalist in hospital who was referred by Poly Clinic Hospital for further treatment. However on the directives of Supreme Court, PIMS administration took the patient from the court and admitted him back in hospital.
According to information, Poly Clinic Administration referred ‘Daily Asas’ reporter Mazhar Sheikh, who got serious injuries during indiscriminate use of force by police against peaceful protestors outside the offices of election commission on the other day, to PIMS. While refusing to admit injured journalist, ED Fazl Hadi and duty doctor asked him to consult Supreme Court for your treatment. The reporter Mazhar Sheikh went straight back to Supreme Court and appeared before the Chief Justice of Pakistan and placed the entire situation before Chief Justice. Later on, ED PIMS appeared in the court and refused to admit stated allegations. However, Chief Justice has directed him to ensure the admission of injured journalist in Hospital. Chief Justice also ordered PIMS ED to dispatch daily report of injured addressing the court.
