Israeli Army
team due in IOK next month
SRINAGAR—A delegation of senior Israeli army officers is scheduled to
visit occupied Occupied Kashmir next month to check the effectiveness
and usefulness of equipment procured from Israel and deployed along the
Line of Control (Loc) in occupied territory.
Sources said that a delegation of top Israeli army officers will visit
Occupied Kashmir in October. During their visit to Occupied Kashmir, the
Israeli army officers will undertake real time testing of the
sophisticated equipment procured by Indian army and deployed along the
LoC in Occupied Kashmir.
They would check the usefulness and effectiveness of the equipment, most
of which has been installed along the LoC to keep an eye on the
infiltration of militants, sources said.
The Indian forces use a wide array of Israeli-made surveillance devices,
ranging from unattended ground sensors and Hand-Held Thermal Imagers (HHTI)
to Long-Range Reconnaissance and Observation Systems and the Battle
Field Surveillance Radars.
The Israeli army delegation will also share with Indian army officers
and men their experiences of tackling infiltration and militancy in
Israel. “They will share their experiences with the officers and men in
Occupied Kashmir”, source said.
There have been regular reports that Israeli army has been training the
Indian army personnel to fight the violence in Occupied Kashmir. “Indian
army officers and soldiers were trained by Israeli specialists in
irregular warfare. They were also trained to handle the Israeli weapons
including the most sophisticated surveillance grid meant to keep a watch
on the movement of people along the LoC with Pakistan”, reports said.
Defence spokesman, Col A K Mathur while talking to Kashmir Times
confirmed that the Israeli army delegation will be visiting in Occupied
Kashmir in the first fortnight of October. “They will be here to enjoy
the picturesque beauty of Occupied Kashmir and also review the
functioning of the equipment sold to Indian army and deployed in
Occupied Kashmir.
After real time testing, the Israeli officers would assess the role of
these gadgets and check their effectiveness”, the defence spokesman
said.
This will be the second trip of Israeli army officers to the strife torn
state within four months. Earlier in the month of June, Israeli army
delegation led by its Deputy Chief of General Staff, Major General Moshe
Kaplinsky visited Jammu. The Indian forces use a wide array of
Israeli-made surveillance devices, ranging from unattended ground
sensors and Hand-Held Thermal Imagers (HHTI) to Long-Range
Reconnaissance and Observation Systems and the Battle Field Surveillance
Radars.
During their stay in Jammu, the Israeli army commanders visited the
borders areas to check the functional compatibilities of a large number
of military equipment, procured from Israel and installed close to Line
of Control. —Agencies
