Supremacy of law to be upheld, says PM

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that acceptance of nomination papers of President Pervez Musharraf shows the supremacy of law and constitution in the country. The Prime Minister was talking to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, President PMLwho called on him at the Prime Minister’s House on Sunday.
The Prime Minister said that all segments of the society must respect the law particularly those who are practicing law. He said that the government has the highest regards for the legal fraternity as they play a very important role in delivering justice to the people. The Prime Minister said that the current election process which has already started with the Presidential election followed by the general elections will put the country on the sustainable path of democracy.
He said that government expects that all parties will fully participate in the election process and reflect their views. He said that the government is taking all possible measures to ensure free and fair elections. The Prime Minister said that the government will ensure that life and property of all its citizens is protected at all costs. He said that peace and harmony must be maintained and the government will not allow any one to violate the law of the land.
The participants said that the PML and coalition parties have a comfortable majority in the electoral college for Presidential election and President Pervez Musharraf will be victorious on the 6th October in Presidentialelection. The meeting also discussed the overall political situation in the country, Presidential and upcoming general elections in the country.
The meeting was attended by Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain, Minister for Foreign Affairs Khurshid Mehmood Kusuri, Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durani, Secretary General PML Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Commander (Retd.) Khalil-ur-Rehman
