Qatar Charity launches Rs5.5m Iftar programme

ISLAMABAD—Qatar Charity, a Doha based international humanitarian organization has launched its Rs.5.5 million Iftar-Programme for distribution of food items among poor families and deserving individuals in various parts of Pakistan during the holy month of Ramadan.
Hamad Ali Al Hinzab, Ambassador of the State of Qatar was the chief guest in the launching ceremony of the programme held in the head office of Qatar Charity in Islamabad, while Muhammad Ouahi, Qatar Charity Country Director, and a large number of social workers and representatives of relief organizations were present on the occasion.
According to the Iftar Programme of the organization, 29,556 meals are going to be distributed among students of various institutions, patients and their attendants in various hospitals, daily-wagers and people on duty like Police personnel and hospital staff in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Under the food-items distribution programme, Qatar charity is set to distribute 2,623 food-packs, 20 kg each, containing rice, flour, sugar, pulse, cooking oil, dates, salt and basin etc. The food items packs are being transported to Bagh district of Azad Kashmir for distribution among earthquake affected families. 719 such packets will be distributed in Bagh, Kashmir, 539 packets in Kharan, Balochistan, 479 packets in DG Khan Punjab and 886 packets in Kohistan, Charsadda, Mardan and Afghan refugees’ camps in NWFP.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Qatar H.E. Hamad Ali Al-Hinzab appreciated the efforts of Qatar Charity in Pakistan and said that Arab contributions for the uplift of poor masses are increased more than 10 times in the holy month of Ramadan as compared to routine donations.
The Ambassador hoped that such activities will substantially contribute in bringing people of the two brotherly countries together and will pave way for strengthened relations between Qatar and Pakistan. Muhammad Ouahi, Qatar Charity Country Director talked on this occasion about the contribution of Qatar Charity in Pakistan and said that his organization is playing a pioneering role in coordination between donors from Qatar and the deserving people in Pakistan.
He pledges to double his organizations’ efforts for supporting victims of the earthquake in AJK and NWFP and enhance its activities in the social and development sectors.
