APDM vows
rousing welcome
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD—The Chairman of the Joint Action Committee of APDM (All
Parties Democratic Movement), Raja Zafar-Ul-Haq has said that Mian Nawaz
Sharif would be accorded a rousing welcome from the platform of APDM,
upon his arrival in Pakistan on 10th Sep.
Talking to journalists at his residence after a meeting of joint action
committee of APDM, he cautioned government to refrain from creating
hurdles in the return process of Mian Nawaz Sharif, which had been
sanctioned by the Supreme Court in its verdict. He said that Mian Nawaz
Sharif would be accorded a warm welcome form his party, with the
executives arriving there jointly, while masses would congregate at the
airport, from their respective constituencies.
He also announced that in the next hearing of Qazi Hussain Ahmad’s
petition against President Musharraf, APDM would also be present, and
lauded lawyers’ community for presenting a glowing example of
solidarity, and awareness for APDM who would fully cooperate with them
in support of their agenda. He warned the government to desist from
reducing the service term of CJ, otherwise it would have to suffer full
wrath of masses, since CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was a National hero
for masses.
He strongly deplored the government’s arrest of more than 1000 PML (N)
activists, citing the action as a sure sign of desperation of
government, which would fail to ebb the tide of masses. Citing the
verdict of the Apex court, he said that there was no reason whatsoever
that Mian Sahib should not return to his country with aplomb, and
government should refrain from using hollow threats of arrests to scare
him. The All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) announced Friday it
would welcome the Sharif brothers on their arrival onSeptember 10 at the
Islamabad International Airport.
Addressing a news conference here after a meeting of the Joint
ActionCommittee of the 32-party alliance, PML-N Chairman Raja
Zafar-ul-Haq said that APDM leaders and workers from all over the
country would converge around the Islamabad Airport.
