Anti-profiteering drive in full swing in Capital
ISLAMABAD—The campaign initiated by the Islamabad Capital Administration
against the price-hikers is in full swing and hundreds of shopkeepers
have been fined during the last ten days for adulteration and
profiteering.
More than 150 shopkeepers have been fined while a number of others were
challaned for less measuring food items, the official sources told.

Iqbal on the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali
conducted surprise visit of Sabzi Mandi Market along with trader
association on Wednesday and checked prices and weight of different food
items.
During weight checking they found three shopkeepers, Zeeshan Traders,
Salman Abbasi Traders and Sajid Zubair Siddiqui selling less
weighingcooking oil.
The police registered case against shopkeepers under Section 264 and 265
and sent them to jail. The cooking oil was also confiscated by price
checking team. The team also challaned number of other shopkeepers under
Labour Act for less measuring different edible items. The Magistrate
warned the shopkeepers to ensure quality and quantity of food items
otherwise strict action would be taken against them. Deputy Commissioner
ICT Mohammad Ali said that ICT Administration has made elaborate
arrangements for providing maximum relief to the consumers during the
holy month of Ramazan.
He said 35 fair price shops and ‘Sasta Bazaars’ will be established in
the federal capital with the cooperation of wholesale dealers, trader’s
community and Utility Stores Corporation.
He said rate list of fruits and vegetables is being issued on daily
basis adding rates of food items are being monitored closely.is the root
cause for many dangerous diseases.
The other health experts highlighting the dangers of smoking said that
it is the root cause of many diseases and spoil the health of the human
body and also disturbs the immune system of the human body. They also
called for launching a massive anti smoking campaign and urged the media
to play their vital role in this regard.—APP |
