NA body suggests zero duty on manmade fibre

ISLAMABAD—A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Textile Industry has discussed the Trade Policy and Prime Minister of Pakistan regarding committee’s recommendations for the improvement of the Textile Industry.
The Secretary M/o Textile Industry apprised the committee that there is need to be concentrated on the development of Human Resource and infrastructure regarding the Textile Industry.
Further he informed to the Committee that the Government decided to hire a foreign Consultant to benchmark the firm characteristics including production technology, skills, according procedures, marketing and business practices relative to international levels.
The committee recommended that the import duty on manmade fiber should be made zero and medium staple fiber should be allowed form India through land routs.
Besides the Chairman, following members, Haroon Ehsan Paracha, Sahibzad Mohammad Mahboob Sultan, Liaqat Ali Mari, Maulana Rehmat Ullah Khalil, Asiya Nasir and Minister of Textile Industry, Mushtaq Ali Cheema attended the meeting.
