‘Construction of NPC to fulfill global needs of journalists’

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that establishment of the National Press Club (NPC) equipped with state-of-the-art facilities would fulfill the needs of international standards.
He said that government is trying its best to increase the role of media in the country in order to forward the idea of freedom of press. He expressed these views during his visit to the site of National Press Club in sector G-6/1 Islamabad.
Federal Secretary information and Broadcasting, Anwar Mehmood, President Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club, Mushtaq Minhas, Secretary General Afzal Butt, Aroosa Alam, Sohail Iqbal, Siddique Sajid, Farooq Afzal, Rana Tahir Pervez Shaukat besides large number of other journalist were also present on the occasion.
The construction of National Press Club would be completed within time period of two years with the collaboration of both Ministry of Information and Capital Development Authority, he said. He said that construction of the National Press Club would reflect the positive role in the region and it would fulfill the needs of journalists internationally.
All the journalists throughout Pakistan would be able to have membership of the National Press Club, he added. Muhammad Ali Durrani further said that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will lay the foundation stone of National Press Club tomorrow (Thursday).
On the occasion, President Rawalpindi/Islamabad Press Club on behalf of the Journalist community thanked the Federal Minister for the construction of the NPC.
