ISLAMABAD—The Supreme Court has accepted a petition against PPPP, chairperson Benazir Bhutto and her husband Asif Ali Zardari.
The petition, that refers to allegations against Benazir Bhutto, for trying to retrieve documents from Swiss authorities regarding cases filed against her, was reviewed by a 7-member bench comprising of CJ, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Justice Nawaz Abbassi, Justice Fakir Muhammad Khokhar, Justice Shakir ullah Jan, Justice M. Javed Buttar, and justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmad, while attorneys Farooq .H. Naik, Sardar Latif khosa, and Raja Shafqat Abbassi represented the petitioners. The petition prays that former attorney general, Chaudhry Tariq had written to Swiss authorities on 10th November 1997 requesting them to furnish him the details about cases against Benazir and her husband, since the information was required for cases pending against the couple in Pakistan, and he has been given power of attorney for this demand.—Online
