Pakistan, Ukraine JMC can promote hydrocarbon, mineral cooperation: Jadoon

ISLAMABAD—The Ambassador of Ukraine Mr. Ihor Pasko called on the Federal Minister for petroleum and Natural Resources Mr. Amanullah Khan Jadoon here today and exchanged views on exploring possibilities of cooperation in the hydrocarbon and mineral Sector.
Welcoming the Ukrainian Envoy, the Minister said that a lot of potential and opportunities for diversified cooperation in oil, gas and mineral sectors exit between the two countries. He said that the government was focusing to explore 627,000 square kilometres sedimentary Oil & gas areas and coal resources of 185 billion tonnes in Thar of Sindh province and other parts of the country.
The Minister recalled his visit to Ukraine in June last which provided him an opportunity to meet his Ukrainian counterpart and Chief Executive of Oil and mineral companies. He said that setting up of Pak-Ukraine Joint Ministerial commission (JMC) could go a long way in exploring and identifying areas of Oil, gas and mineral cooperation for the mutual advantage.
Reciprocating his sentiments, the Envoy told the Minister that Ukraine had a vast expertise and potential in oil gas and manorial mining and both the countries could benefit from each others experience.
Secretary Petroleum Farrukh Qayyum and other senior officials of the Ministry were also present during the meeting.
